Big Mary
Mary had a little lamb,
a little toast,
a little jam,
a little pizza
and some cake,
some French fries
and a chocolate shake,
a little burger
on a bun.
And that's why Mary
weighs a ton.
a little toast,
a little jam,
a little pizza
and some cake,
some French fries
and a chocolate shake,
a little burger
on a bun.
And that's why Mary
weighs a ton.

ReplyDeleteWhat is there to say about this poem? Well, there's the obvious: it's hilarious! It is such a clever spin off, and honestly, it is really refreshing to find a poem that doesn't take itself too seriously. Although true that poetry can be a beautiful method of self-expression and has incredible powers to move people, sometimes people just need to laugh and find the beauty in simplicity. Thank you for reminding people of that!
I had a great laugh at the man eating the burger. Anyways this poem is really cute and funny. I agree with Rachel, it's nice to find a poem that's simple yet fun and amusing. Thank you for making my day. pce out
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Food Poet, I gotta say....I love this poem! It was entertaining, amusing, funny-- all packed in one. All that junkfood imagery made me wanna run to McD's. One thing I really liked about it was how it is kind of a spin off of "Mary Had a Little Lamb". All I can say is: I'm lovin' it.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. I could die eating up this poem. By that I mean it's funny. I like the reference to Mother Goose's Mary had a Little Lamb. It just makes me feel hungry. But I know couldn't eat all those foods. Nice poem find Pat.
ReplyDeleteI like this poem a lot. It had a hilarious spin off of Mary Had a Little Lamb, but instead the author wrote about how Mary ate the little lamb along with a lot of other things. Great poem.
ReplyDeleteVery funny and a good spin off of mary had a little lamb. Good title choice. I feel bad about Mary. this poem just made my day. Keep writing humorous poems!
ReplyDeleteOne of the most entertaining poems that I ever read. Although the title gives the poem and the end away. It would have been nice to include the title of the poem in the description at the end of the poem, to make the poem even funnier. But other than that, excellent poem!
